समावेशी शिक्षणशास्त्र, शिक्षणशास्त्र परिवार का एक ऐसा सदस्य है जो अधिगमकर्ता की पृष्ठभूमि या पहचान की परवाह किए बिना सभी की अधिगम आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने का प्रयास करता है और अधिगम सामग्री के साथ उनके जुड़ाव का समर्थन करता है साथ ही शिक्षण-अधिगम प्रक्रिया के इस बुनियादी सिद्धांत का भी अनुपालन करता है कि कक्षा में सभी विद्यार्थियों की आवाज़ सुनी जाए एवं सभी को सीखने की प्रक्रिया में एक समान भागीदारी से एक समान अवसर मिले।

समावेशी शिक्षणशास्त्र का प्रारम्भ, शिक्षण-अधिगम प्रक्रिया से संबन्धित विभिन्न पहलुओं पर एक गंभीर चिंतन एवं शोध से होता है जैसे- किसी भी कक्षा में विद्यार्थियों की अधिगम भागीदारी में असंतुलन क्यों एवं कैसे उत्पन्न होता है एवं उसे एक शिक्षक अपने शिक्षण से कैसे दूर कर सकता है? क्यों कुछ विद्यार्थी दूसरे विद्यार्थी की तुलना में अधिक बार अधिगम प्रक्रिया में भाग लेते हैं एवं तुलनात्मक रूप से अधिक आसानी से सीखते हैं? वहीं कुछ विद्यार्थी अधिगम प्रक्रिया में बहुत ही कम अपनी सहभागिता प्रदर्शित करते हैं एवं तुलनात्मक रूप से सीखने में भी कठिनाई महसूस करते हैं? समाज की सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, आर्थिक व व्यावसायिक मान्यताएं एवं धारणाएँ विद्यार्थियों की कक्षागत क्रियाओं को क्यों एवं कैसे प्रभावित करती हैं? विद्यार्थियों की अपनी मनोदैहिक पहचान, सामाजिक-आर्थिक पृष्ठभूमि उनके स्वयं के साथ जुड़ाव स्तर एवं दूसरों के साथ उनके जुड़ाव स्तर को कैसे प्रभावित कर सकती हैं? शैक्षिक पाठ्यक्रम एवं नवीन शैक्षणिक आव्यूह सर्व शिक्षा में विद्यार्थी भागीदारी एवं सुगम पहुँच को कैसे प्रोत्साहित कर सकते हैं? समावेशी शिक्षणशास्त्र के विभिन्न प्रतिमानों एवं अभिकल्पों में निपुणता अर्जित करके एक शिक्षक समावेशी शिक्षा के निर्धारित लक्ष्यों की पूर्ति के लिए आयोजित वैश्विक शैक्षिक यज्ञ में अपनी शिक्षण रूपी आहुति बड़ी आसानी से दे सकता है।
