Social-emotional development (SED) is a vital aspect of school going children growth and holistic development, significantly influencing their ability to manage emotions, adjustment, positive interpersonal relationships, academic performance, and overall well-being. This conceptual paper explores the key components, theoretical foundation, factors influencing social-emotional development, and the significant role schools play in nurturing these essential life skills. It discusses existing challenges to fostering SED and provides recommendations for integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks within educational settings. By highlighting the importance of holistic development, this paper emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts between educators, parents, and policymakers to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that foster social and emotional competence.
