Abstract:

Purpose: This research paper explores the significance of health and safety standards in the Indian hotel industry and their impact on employee well-being, job satisfaction, and overall workplace productivity. By analyzing secondary data from 2001 to 2023, the study evaluates how health and safety measures contribute to a secure and efficient work environment in India’s hospitality sector.

Methodology: This study adopts a descriptive and quantitative approach, relying on secondary data from industry reports and regulatory guidelines. It examines the role of workplace safety policies, hygiene standards, risk management strategies, and occupational health programs in enhancing employee morale, engagement, and retention. Additionally, it assesses the influence of regulatory frameworks and industry best practices on employee well-being and operational effectiveness. By evaluating the relationship between safety measures and employee satisfaction, this research provides insights for hotel managers, HR professionals, and policymakers in India.

Findings: The findings highlight that well-implemented health and safety standards significantly improve employee satisfaction and performance. However, their effectiveness depends on proactive enforcement, regular monitoring, and adaptation to industry-specific risks and challenges in the Indian context.

Contribution: The paper concludes with recommendations for best practices in health and safety policy formulation, emphasizing the need to cultivate a safe and supportive workplace culture. It underscores the importance of continuous improvement in health and safety protocols to ensure employee well-being and sustainable productivity in the Indian hotel industry.
