Abstract

This scholarly research article delves into the intricate history of women’s education and empowerment in ancient India. It offers a thorough exploration of the progressive ideals and cultural values that laid the groundwork for gender equality and the quest for knowledge. In ancient Indian knowledge systems, women played an important role as contributors, practitioners, and preservers of knowledge in fields such as philosophy, science, medicine, literature, and the arts. Their wisdom was respected, and many women gained recognition as scholars, sages, and artists. In ancient Indian civilization, women were active participants in the social and cultural spheres and made significant contributions to the various intellectual and spiritual areas. From philosophy and science to literature and the arts, the contribution of women to Indian knowledge systems is deep and often underestimated. While the historical record has been dominated by male scholars and practitioners, numerous women in Indian history have been identified as philosophers, scholars, scientists, and artists in their own right. Their works and influence continue to inspire contemporary thought in multiple fields, illustrating the richness and diversity of India's intellectual heritage.
